Shape. Another important element of choosing the best kitchen table is the shape. Most kitchen tables are either round, square, or rectangular. Thinking about shape is an important part of finding the table that will fit the best. For example, the best shape for a kitchen table in a room with very few walls is a circular shape. This adds to the smoothness of the room and allows for flowing lines. However, a kitchen that has a small eat-in area that is like a square attached to the kitchen would look better with a square or rectangular table. Just think of how the walls around your eat-in kitchen are shaped and consider how different shapes of tables will fit in the space before purchasing one. Quality. As with all types of furniture, quality is extremely important when looking at kitchen tables. A kitchen table will probably get more abuse than a dining room table, so think carefully about the quality of the table top especially. Always avoid tables that are made of MDF, which is medium density fiberboard. The finish on these types of tables is easily chipped and damaged, despite how silky smooth it looks the first time you see it in the store. Remember that purchasing from an online retailer is a great way to save money, but it is not advised that you make the purchase unless you have seen the exact brand and table you are purchasing in a store beforehand. Purchasing furniture without actually touching it with your hands and examining it closely is an easy way to end up with a cheap, shoddy piece that will break very easily.
Many little things in our everyday life come to us unnoticed and unappreciated such as wheels, erasers, scissors and things that make our lives easier and more comfortable. Have you ever thought "How would my life be without a table?" Things aren't just there for any reason. Someone must've thought about why it should be there. Do you think kitchen's have tables just because? But who invented the kitchen table? Although there have been no solid proofs that the Ancient Egyptians started using the kitchen tables first or at least invented it, many believe that the kitchen tables purpose was to keep everything organized in the kitchen and not just for dining purposes. During the middle ages, the kitchen table was said to have been placed in the kitchen for the servants to dine on.
Not until October 6, 1896 did the kitchen table get a patent. One man, in the name of Henry A. Jackson, an African inventor decided it was time to organize the kitchen and patent his invention. At that time, kitchen counters or islands weren't famous yet. The kitchen table served its purpose for preparing food and dining. Like everything that dates back to ancient history, kitchen tables too have evolved and modified since then. The kitchen table has taken changes in shapes, sizes, color, material and design. It's hard to pin point as to who invented the table exactly. But for whoever he or she or they were, we should be grateful that we a have something to host every member of the family to bond over with for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
